I weave wool narrative blankets and wall hangings applying color and surface design with needle felting. I am interested in the use of symbols to represent universal themes.
Influences include Canadian Inuit wall hangings, clothing, and sewing techniques and Native American designs and images. I am riveted by color. I have been drawn to travel in Guatemala and Mexico where I have developed a keen appreciation for wonderful combinations of vivid primary colors.
By education and profession I was an occupational therapist for 30 years. During my training, I encountered my first loom and began to weave. Now my days in the studio weaving images and patterns are fueled by stories I hear in the evenings when I teach English to immigrants.
