Reviews – Builder Boards

  • Builder Boards….will have children of all ages working together to create play structures of
their own design.….the design is basic, yet unique. You will look at it and say, “Why didn’t
I think of that?” If you have kids or know kids…build these boards, and strike fire into their
    imaginations.

  • We started an industrial technology club at my school and our kickoff project was to build a
Builder Board Playhouse for a local preschool. I had previously purchased Jack McKee’s
Builder Boards book after reading his article (in Tech Directions, Dec 1995). Here, at SMC
all the students thought it would be a great project. The high school industrial tech students
reclaimed the wood and steel from the gym bleachers that were being replaced, and they
donated some of the wood for our project. We have had very positive feedback from the
community including a front page article about the project. If anyone is looking for a com-
munity service project, I highly recommend the Builder Boards.
A third party sent me this review, (and a picture, page 44) and I was never able to track down the source.
  • Builder Boards are a great success at the Maine Discovery Museum! Kids of all ages love them!
They’re a real favorite and encourage intergenerational play. They are extremely durable. Ours were built by the local technical high school.

  • Hi Jack,…there’s a problem with the Builder Boards. I gave them to my son last night and he
refused to go to sleep. They were just too much fun!

  • Great news! The kids have six weeks of woodworking, and because I built a set of Builder Boards with kids in Port Townsend, I want to bring that experience here.
